Mounting Brackets
Mounting brackets consist each of three stainless steel castings, bolts and washers and are nicely isolated from the Aluminum tube to prevent corrosion. We sell many of these brackets to sailing people, who use them for all sorts of things. They are very flexible, can easily be angled to fit, and once bolted on, you just tighten all bolts and the bracket is very strong. Beside, it is a beautiful bracket. An Aries vane gear comes with six of these brackets. Two fit on the gear and four on the boat. Stainless steel castings (made by the VAX investment method with Delrin isolation material.)
The New Aries Safety Hinge
Windvane steering systems of all types have traditionally
had a down side……. When maneuvering in port they can make steering backwards
difficult, increase the turning circle of the vessel and are very vulnerable
to damage from collision. (Even when tied up).
The New Aries Safety hinge allows the servo to be taken off safely and
stored away when not in use. The design is such that the strength of the
servo has been retained without the debilitating cost of manufacturing
a very expensive casting. When Nick Franklin the original Aries designer
recently visited Peter at his factory and gave his approval to a solution
to a problem that he had been trying to solve economically years before.
